Joining his former crew member and friend Ron Holland, Bill will provide a slideshow and talk about the "Legend of imp" , ONE OF RON HOLLAND'S MOST IMPORTANT DESIGNS. Commissioned by Holland's close friend Dave Allen and built by Gary Carlin and Ragnar Harkenson at Kiwi Boats in Florida. Imp represented the USA in two Admiral’s Cups and achieved the top yacht prize in 1977 as Internationally acclaimed designer. Rread about Ron Holland in the May 2010 issue of Yachting Magazine.

Re-live the adventure! A true story with over 100 images about an incredibly successful, diminutive ocean racing yacht, her adventures, her trials and tribulations. She is one of the greatest yachts in modern racing history! For all the crew who sailed on imp and David Allen’s predecessor, Improbable, all agree that their adventures served as crucibles in passages to man-hood, self-discovery and self-confidence. Both were magical boats that afforded lifetime peak experiences. In the hero’s journey, these two boats served each of us to our “Call to Adventure.” The Legend of imp captures how her crew met, came together as a team, her roots and links into yacht racing history and San Francisco Bay racing history during one of the most exciting eras to be involved in offshore racing.
The Howth Yacht Club is hosting the Etchell's World Championship 2010 ... hope the Author comes back with a bullet!
The first announcement of Barton's book was held at the San Francisco Yacht Club on June 16, 2010. Fantastic turn-out from the Allen family to the crew of imp and lots of 'old salts' came for the celebration.
Bill's crew has set up a Flickr account so you can preview the images and download, order prints, email to friends ...
share the magic of the evening!
